About Brigitt Angst

A Warm Welcome to Brigitt Angst Photography! 

Brigitt Angst is a photographer and biologist. She grew up in Lucerne, Switzerland and now lives and works in Finchley, North London, England. Her photography currently focuses on still life, particularly on plant life and also on architecture. Her previous occupation in biology is a strong influence on her photographic practice. She holds a PhD in Clinical Immunology from Berne University, Switzerland and a Ba(Hons) in Photography from the University of Westminster, London. Since October 2009 she is studying for an MA in photography at De Montfort University in Leicester.

‘Nature displays a seemingly endless variety of shapes, patterns and colours. I neither intend to better the intricate tapestry and astonishing forms of the natural marvels I encounter nor do I attempt to give a faithful, accurate representation of what is in front of me. When I photograph, I respond to what I see and experience and create my own reinterpretation of nature. I am particularly fascinated by the sculptural qualities of plants.’
