Who is That Girl

Fashion is a cultural practice with strong significance for women. I have employed fashion style photography as a vehicle to explore issues of gender identity, femininity, womanhood and difference.

TURNER SYNDROME

The key features of Turner Syndrome are short stature and infertility. This little known and rarely talked about genetic condition affects 1 in 2500 females in diverse and complex ways.
Whilst emulating fashion photography, this work interrogates issues such as physical appearance, difference, fertility, motherhood, sexuality or self esteem, which are pivotal to the context of TS, but also common feminine experiences. Models and photographer have closely collaborated, drawing on the shared experience of living with TS.

SIZE MATTERS

In most cases, untreated females with Turner Syndrome are short in stature (average final adult height is 4 feet 7 inches/140 centimetres ) and may have a variety of associated physical features and medical problems. www.kidshealth.org/parent/medical/sexual/turner.html
I was diagnosed with TS when I was a baby!! I am one of the smartest people in my class, but the shortest!! I now reach 4'10" and I have been taking GH (growth hormone) for 8 years and will be on it for several more years!! AM
Is it bad that I always worry people can tell something is "wrong" with me? I don't think I have any real TS traits ( do I?? no one will tell me?) but I do worry people can tell. AP
Self-esteem is the collection of beliefs or feelings we have about ourselves, our "self-perceptions." How we define ourselves influences our motivations, attitudes, and behaviors and affects our emotional adjustment.
